Helping Others Means Everything
We have had many families in our area that have been affected by the flood. Some of our students pass homes where the families have lost everything. We have had students and parents inquire about how they can help. After speaking with the district social worker she told us that the flood victims in our district still need laundry detergent, fabric softener, toilet paper, new pillows and monetary donations. The staff and students came together and decided to help by having a service learning project to help flood victims in our community. Students will be learning about the impact of flooding in our area during Bunches on Thursday. They will also be creating games for children who lost all of their belongings during the flood. We will be having a spirit week next week and collecting items and change. The donations and games will be given to our district social worker to be distributed to families in our community affected by the flood. We want all students to participate in dressing up during the week. We appreciate any donations. Guffey is the B.E.S.T. Bettering Everyone Succeeding Together

Guffey Elementary is proud to work with the residents of Cori Manor. Every year Guffey students make holiday cards and present the residents with a Christmas gift. The sock drive was a great success. Thank you for your donations. The residents will be able to stay cozy on the cold winter days. Guffey students decorated the socks and made cards during Bunches. Also, our 3rd and 4th grade students will be presenting a holiday concert for the residents when they receive their special gifts.
Kellsie’s Hope Foundation: “Sock-It to Cancer!”
Guffey students recently participated in a service learning project. Students decorated socks and collected change for Kellsie’s Hope Foundation. The change was donated to assist Dr. Druley’s childhood cancer research project. Dr. Druley was Kellsie’s oncologist. While fighting her battle with cancer, one of Kellsie’s goals was to start a foundation to help support his research. Her foundation also grants wishes to children who are battling cancer. Students graphed the amount of change that was brought in for each class. Guffey students raised over $2000.00 to support childhood cancer research. Thank you for your support!
